A family, a tradition, a passion
My name is Pericle, meaning “surrounded by glory”. My glory is my family: a story spanning more than 150 years, rooted in the small butcher shop where it all began. My mother, Antonietta, orphaned at just twelve, turned that shop into a point of reference for the whole town. By her side was my father, “Pippi”, the man who won her heart with a little goldfish from the fish ponds of Ugento.
From the butcher shop to the trattoria
Their union, built on love, sacrifice, and hard work, gave life to a shared dream: carrying on a tradition rooted in honesty, quality, and respect for food. I grew up surrounded by the aroma of meat and the smiles of our customers, and chose to continue that journey in the same spirit, transforming our historic family butcher shop into a trattoria in the heart of Specchia, where authentic Salento cuisine is celebrated every day.
Today, as yesterday,
with an eye to the future
Today, I produce what I serve at the table: carefully selected meat, local products, and dishes prepared with care and love for every detail. I am a father, as my father was, and I carry on the same legacy of values, memories, and courage. La Bettola is more than just a restaurant; it is the living story of a family that has welcomed guests for generations with open hearts and a love of sharing good food.
